ONERAIN CONTINUES TO ADD FEATURE ENHANCEMENTS TO CONTRAIL®

The Contrail® Web hosted services at OneRain were initially launched in 2004 as a project for the Bureau of Indian Affairs Dam Safety Program.  Since then, many governmental agencies across the United States have subscribed to the service for ease of remote viewing of their ALERT gauge data.  OneRain has always been committed to the constant evolution of the program, and at the request of many agencies, we began selling the software in 2008 as a mission critical base station in lieu of our hosting of the web service.  While our web hosted clients have been great to suggest feature enhancements to the program, our new Contrail® Base Station clients have really pressed the envelope with innovative feature requests that significantly enhance the functionality of the program.  As always, when we make these upgrades, we automatically display these features to all Contrail users, both those subscribing to the web hosted service, and those purchasing the software as their own base station and web hosting.

Many times the changes are subtle, and we role the features out without much fanfare.  However, in the last year the advancement has been so significant that we offered a free training session to each of our existing clients to clearly point out new features and benefits for some of the more detailed enhancements.

If you missed the training, or didn’t take us up on the offer, there is still time!  Just drop us a line and ask to set up a webinar session. We would be happy to accommodate you.

To recap, listed below are some of the most recent enhancements. As always – if you have other suggestions – just let us know!

  • Performance enhancements in processing allow OneRain to offer a 400% increase in the number of alarm evaluations per day. How?

    • Instead of evaluating every 5 minutes we evaluate every minute

    • Instead of 288 evaluations a day, that is 1440 evaluations

  • Alarm delivery flexibility:

    • You can now choose to have different messages delivered to different people all from the same triggered event

      • Send a short mobile-text message to your on-call staff

      • Send a longer descriptive email to managers, including action plans

      • Send a message to a different department

      • Send no messages at all; the icons still change color and the Alarm manager still maintains your event history

  • New interface

    • Dashboard graphing alarm summary information

    • Fewer tabs to reduce the number of pages loaded to work with alarms

  • New auto-complete fields that give you options as you type

    • Auto fill in email addresses or text phone numbers

    • Keywords to use in subject or message allow for generic messages to be filled with information when the alarm is triggered

    • Writing equations in the Alarm rule functions are at your finger-tips

  • Combined search results

    • Quickly find by rules, triggered alarms, or by delivery criteria

  • New privileges to manage alarms

    • All Contrail clients have access to the Alarm Module under the "Advanced" tab in the "Administration" section

    • New user level privilege "Alarm Administration" allows administration of alarms by personnel without having to give full administration to manage the entire system
